# Sharing Resources with a Public Link

> Learn how to create a Public Link to share Objects, Geofences, Sites, and Routes through a live map without creating an Organization Sharing connection.

## Introduction

Use **Public Link** when you want to share Jitra resources through a link that can be opened without signing in.

A Public Link can include one or more:

* Object
* Geofence
* Site
* Route

When the link is opened, the recipient can view the shared resources on a **live map**.

Public Link is different from Organization Sharing because it does not create a connection between Organizations.

## Creating a Public Link

Open **Share → Public Link**, then click **New**.

### 1. Enter a Public Link Name

Enter a name to help you identify the Public Link.

The name is used for internal management only and is not shown to recipients who open the link.

### 2. Set the Public Link Status

Use the **Active** toggle to determine whether the link can be accessed.

When the Public Link is Active, recipients can open the link.

When it is inactive, the URL remains stored but is treated as invalid when accessed.

### 3. Select the Resources to Share

Choose the resources you want to display through the Public Link.

You can select one or more resource types:

* Objects
* Geofences
* Sites
* Routes

Multiple resource types can be included in the same Public Link.

### 4. Save the Public Link

Once the name, status, and resources are correct, click **Save**.

Jitra automatically generates a Public Link URL and adds it to the **Public Links** list.

### 5. Copy and Share the Link

Copy the URL from the **Link** column and send it to the recipient.

The recipient does not need a Jitra account or need to sign in.

## What Does the Recipient See?

When an active Public Link is opened, the recipient is taken directly to a live map.

The map displays the resources included in the Public Link, such as:

* Object positions
* Geofences
* Sites
* Routes

## Object Access Through a Public Link

Public Link provides access to **live** information only.

Recipients do not have access to Object **History** through a Public Link.

If you need to provide History access to another Organization, use Organization Sharing through My Shares.

## Inactive Public Links

When a Public Link is inactive, the same URL cannot be used to access the shared resources.

You can activate the same Public Link again later, and changing the Active status does not change the URL.

## Public Link vs. Organization Sharing

Use **Public Link** when you want to share a live view through a URL without requiring the recipient to have a Jitra account.

Use **Organization Sharing** when you want to share resources directly with another Organization in Jitra.
